Hail to the King

Ever since he ascended to the throne of his beloved kingdom of Altyria as its youngest ruler in history, High King Augustus Rennet has led his people into a golden age of peace, abundance, and prosperity. Bad blood between the races and pacts sworn in an age more brutal than this one force him into a collision course with the high elves of the forest of Ymrion, but when he takes his armies to meet his enemies on the field of battle, what befalls him is not at all what he expects as the sun is blotted out by a hail of arrows fletched with pink feathers.

A/N: As I’ve expressed before, fanfiction is not a thing that I like to do, especially in the context of this blog and story requests that I receive. I wrote this for a friend. Please don’t expect fanfiction to be more common on this blog. It will not be. I might start an Archive of Our Own account if I decide to write more fanfiction and future works will be posted there.

Pole-ing Station

It’s election season, and having missed the last one because he wasn’t old enough, Gavin is more than ready to do his civic duty and vote. He knows things can get pretty crowded since he’s living in Manhattan, so he goes to his local polling station bright and early only to find that it’s already packed and that there’s an hour-long wait. Determined not to let the travesty that was the last election happen, though, he decides to stay and see this through. Things aren’t quite as they seem when he enters the DIQ-sponsored polling station, but he leaves plenty satisfied that he’s done his job as an upstanding citizen and a new supporter of DIQ’s progressive agenda in congress.

Teambuilding

I just made the football team for my university, and im super stoked! The coach is having us all meet up in the locker room later today, but his email mentioned something about new rules that he was gonna be enforcing this year. Some of the more senior players in the know seem antsy about it. I wonder if I should be worried?

Gender Studies

Dr. Taron Burns is a sociologist by trade and has to teach a second year liberal arts course in order to satisfy the terms of his tenure appointment. He has a reputation as being a relatively easygoing teacher, a lenient marker, and all-around nice guy. This year, he’s talking about gender roles and how they help and hinder progress in broader human society. Only, something strange is happening: his class is shrinking and it seems to be the girls, without exception, who are dropping out of his class, along with some of the more timid boys. He doesn’t know what to make jockboys that stay in his class, but he certainly finds the way that they look at him distracting.
